Bent-Over Wide Grip Row

Exercise Instructions

*This exercise is typically done with an EZ bar, but if you have a shorter barbell that can work too. If you don’t have plates that are easy to hold like I am in the video, you can also grab the bar with a very wide overhand grip.

  • You can see the weight is being held by the plates, not the bar. This hand position and grip width hit the rear deltoids very well. You can also grab the barbell with a very wide grip if holding it by the plates is not comfortable.
  • Stand up with the barbell, then bend at the hips to lower your upper body towards the ground. Slight bend in your knees.
  • Now your upper body should be parallel or close to parallel to the ground.
  • Your back should remain flat with the weight in arms out in front of you.
  • Pull the weight to your chest and keep your elbows up and away from your torso as you pull.
  • Slowly lower the bar back down towards the ground.
