*This exercise can also be done with a barbell.
- Grab an EZ bar or barbell with a shoulder-width grip and lie back on a flat bench.
- Hold the bar over you in front of your chest with your elbows bent.
- Lower the bar back and downward behind your head.
- Once you feel a good stretch in your lats, use your lats to pull the bar back upwards until it is directly over you.
- Maintain that bend in your elbows throughout the entire exercise. You should NOT feel this exercise in your triceps. It is a common mistake for people to turn this into a skullcrusher – also known as a lying tricep extension. Focus on using your lats to pull the weight over.
