You can use either a straight bar, or an EZ bar for this exercise.
Stand a few feet back from the cable and have a slight forward lean with your upper body.
Keep the bar lower in your palms, not in your fingers. You’ll be stronger and be able to work the triceps better when the bar is lower in your palm, and your wrists are straight. Having the bar in your fingers will likely make it difficult to be as strong, to keep your wrists straight, and to work the triceps as effectively.
While keeping your elbows still and not letting them move forward much, use your triceps to push the bar down until your arms are completely extended.
Make sure you get a good range of motion by controlling the bar back to the starting position.
